Mary Hengesbach Obituary

Mary Josephine Hengesbach, of Westphalia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on April 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Mary was born on April 25, 1945, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Victor and Ethel (Ferrigan) Voisinet. She graduated from Resurrection High School in 1963. A devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mary’s life was deeply rooted in her faith. She was married to the love of her life, Richard Hengesbach for 50 years. Together, they built a strong, loving family and shared countless memories. Mary found great joy in her passion for gardening and tending to her flowers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents; father and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Clothilda Hengesbach, her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” Hengesbach; brother, Jack Voisinet; and her in-laws, Doris (Joseph) Pung, Tom Hengesbach, Chuck Fraser, and Julius Theis. Surviving Mary are her children, Daniel (Marcia) Hengesbach, Brian Hengesbach, Jeffrey (Lindsy) Hengesbach, and Jennifer (Damon) Thelen; grandchildren; Kyle (fiancé, Monica), Riley, Hayden, Trevor, Ethan, Morgan, Blake, Carter, Aubrey; siblings, Charlotte (Jerome) Hengesbach, Vic (Jane) Voisinet, Jim (Kathy) Voisinet, Anna (Bruce) Thelen, Theresa (John) Stefanick, Reyne (Randy) Hannink, Karen Fraser, Kathy (James) Williams, and Nancy Trevino; in-laws, Ann (David) Fedewa, Larry (Susan) Hengesbach, Ruth Voisinet and Marilyn Theis; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitors are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
