Mary Lou Jarrard, loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, October 6th at the age of 89. She was born and raised in Mt. Clemens, MI by parents Hazel and Calvin Estes. As a young person she enjoyed 4-H and ballet dancing. She attended Michigan State University where she studied Home Economics and Interior Design. During her professional life she worked at the original Hudson’s in Detroit, Liebermans, Jacobson Store for the Home, and Expressions in Lansing, MI. She was an avid reader, loved theater, music and the visual arts. Mary enjoyed travel, photography, nature, scrapbooking and the color purple! She also developed a passion for Mah Jongg in her later years. Some of her most treasured times were spent with her friends and family at Crystal Lake in Beulah, MI. Her kindness, compassion, and grace will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Preceding Mary in death are her parents; Hazel and Calvin Estes, her in-laws Loie and Howard Jarrard and former husband David Jarrard. Mary is survived by her children Elizabeth (Kyu) Kim, and Sybil (Rich) Jarrard and grand children, Alexander, Nicholas and Isabella Kim.
