Mary Margaret McQueary Obituary

Our very special Mom and Grandma, Mary Margaret Rosemary Elizabeth Hanses McQueary, passed away peacefully, December 6, 2024 with her family by her side. Born to William and Frances Hanses on November 11, 1934, she married Wayne O. McQueary, Jr on November 7, 1959 and he preceded her in death in 2009. Two of her proudest accomplishments were adopting Mindy and Chris. She enjoyed being around her family and doing anything that involved her grandkids and great-grandkids, she especially loved watching them overnight. Several trips to Disney World were taken with us all. She loved doing puzzles with her great-grandkids. Also, playing cards, bowling with her girlfriends, and enjoyed going on the trips they used to take. She was very skilled at knitting and crocheting and made blankets for all family members. Everyone who was blessed with children in her family always received baby afghans from her. She was a secretary for PW High School and then Great West Life Insurance until her retirement.

Survived by her daughter Mindy (Steve) Thelen, son Chris (Lyndie Nobach) McQueary, her very special grandkids Becky (Brian Rehmann), Tracy (Jason) Sinclair, Eric (Brittany) Thelen, Kaitlyn (Chris) Zuker, William (Betsy) McQueary. The great-grandkids that were the highlight of her life were Michaela, Olivia, William, Ethan and Katie Rehmann, Parker Thelen and Hope Sinclair, Braxton Fox and Kinzley Thelen, Leo, Reid and Blake Zuker, Roseleigh, Albin, Forrest and Shepherd McQueary. Brother William (Mary Louise) Hanses and sister-in-law Marie Hanses. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Gunner Thelen, siblings & in-laws, Betty & Steve Trbovich, Bobby & Edith Hanses, Bernie & Barb Hanses, Donald Hanses, Paul Hanses.

We want to give special thanks to all the caregivers that were with mom throughout the past year and a half. Especially Jodi Simon from Lake Odessa who was a godsend and we will be forever grateful for all the cookie baking and time she spent with mom. Special thanks to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan who took care of mom the last 2 days of her time with us and the special people we got to know from there.

Mom, you accomplished a lot in your life and so many people have wonderful memories of you. You had a great life and gave your family a great life, now you can enjoy being with Dad again. Chris and I are so proud to be your kids, thank you for that! We love you and you will be greatly missed by all.
