Maurice Elwin Minier, 83, of Ionia, passed away on February 13, 2025. He was born on February 19, 1941, in Ionia, to Maurice D. and Ruth M. (Munn) Minier. Elwin dedicated much of his life to farming and was known for his strong work ethic. He could often be found chopping wood, tinkering with cars, or maintaining his yard. In his free time, Elwin enjoyed deer hunting, dancing, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers and Lions. A collector of clocks, he also delighted in playing games like hide and seek, kick the can, football, and snipe hunting with his children when they were young. Elwin found great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports, especially football. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Elwin in death are his parents, Maurice and Ruth Minier; beloved wife, Betty (Soule) Minier; son, Kevin “Lee” Minier; son-in-law: Mike Lovejoy; siblings, Alice (Stanley) Woodhams, Marian (Leonard) Park, Shirley (Walter) Larsen, and Dale Minier. Surviving are his daughters, Maureen (Vince Rademacher) Lovejoy, Terry (Terry) Hickok, Irene (Jack) Hawkins, Rebecca (Paul Ferris, Sr.) Summerfield, Betty Jo (Norman) Ferris; sons, Chuck (Marci) Minier, Ken (Mindy) Minier, Rod (Evette) Minier, and Doug (Misty Griffen) Minier; 36 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; fiancé, Brenda Schrauben; sister-in-law, Bobbie Minier; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Chris Hickock at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia. A luncheon will immediately follow at Illuminate Church, 83 East Tuttle Road, Ionia. Interment will take place at Sunny Hill Cemetery, Fenwick.
