Maxine Jane Fox

Maxine Jane Fox, age 93, of Ionia, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020.  She was born on April 21, 1927, the daughter of Harold and Marguerite Rookus. Maxine was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, served as the treasurer of the rosary circle and a member the St. Jude Society. She moved as a young lady to California and worked for a telephone company. Maxine enjoyed bowling in her later years, golfing, playing bridge and going to the casino. She also was an avid fan of the the Detroit Tigers. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite; father, Harold; step-father, Milton Lower; husband, Robert Fox, Sr.; infant daughter, Karen; sister, Marilyn Periord; step-brother, Morris Lowe. Surviving are her children, Robert (Linda) Fox, Sr., Susan (Jerry) Doyle, Theresa (Michael) Cannata, Joanne Barber, Matthew Fox, Mary (Steve) Chapman, and Anne (Jerry Knapp) Fox; grandchildren, Eric (Lisa), Sarah (Jeff), Joseph (Amanda), Somchai (Krystin), Rob, Ryan, Jeffery (Theresa), Stacia, Matthew (Liz), Dominique (Cory), Maggie (Chris), Brittany, Marcus (Nicole), Maxine, Georgia (Chris), and Andrew; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Norma Allard. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Brown at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2020 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. The family a has asked those that may be conscious of the pandemic to come from 5-6 p.m. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.  The family will also receive friends 10:00 a.m. until the Mass on Thursday.
