Melvin William Trescott Obituary

Melvin was born August 28, 1949 in Cass City, MI to William and Lovina Trescott.

Mel (as he was affectionately known) graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1967. He worked for the State of Michigan until his retirement in October of 2002.

Mel loved the outdoors, riding motorcycles, snowmobiles and he especially loved boating. If you couldn’t find him in the summer months it was because he was in his boat on the Great Lakes.

Mel also became interested in the Historical Harbor Beach Lighthouse. He donated several items and photographs of his great-grandfather, Loren Trescott, who was a lighthouse keeper there.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Penny Matoon.

Mel is survived by his sister, Millie (Herb) Seidelman and his half-sister, Kathy (Edward) Ferguson; nieces and nephews, Denise (Dan) Adkinson, Janel (Todd) Badder, Jill Seidelman, Herb Seidelman, Penny Lynn Boucher, Forest Elwell, Chelsea Hutson and Mondo Trescott.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date in Harbor Beach, MI.

If you feel a desire to make a donation in his memory you may do so by sending it to Harbor Beach Lighthouse Preservation Society. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
