Michael Edwin Mitchell

Michael Edwin Mitchell, of Portland, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025 at the age of 48. He was born on August 15, 1976 in Haines City, Florida to Thomas E. and Georgia E. (Scheurer) Mitchell. Michael was a devoted member of the Portland United Methodist Church. He liked to bowl and made many friends over the years that he enjoyed spending time with.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Mitchell; grandparents, Sam and Ruth Mitchell and Ken and Jeanette Scheurer; and uncles, Jim Scheurer, Phil Scheurer, and Sam Mitchell. Surviving are his mother, Georgia Mitchell, sister, Julie (Heath) Barclay; nephew, Perry Mitchell; uncles and aunts, Darrell (Barb) Mitchell, Connie Mitchell, Ed Scheurer, David (Sheri) Scheurer, and Jane (Mike) Blood; best friend, Kaitlyn Sailor, special friend, Skylar Edwards, and many bowling friends.

A special thank you to Michelle VanSlambrook and all who were involved in fundraisers for Mike and to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County for the care and compassion they showed to Mike.

A Memorial Service honoring Michael will be officiated by Pastor Lenora Combs-Whitecotton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Portland United Methodist Church. A luncheon will follow at the church. Family and friends may pay their respects beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Portland United Methodist Church or Hospice House of Shiawassee County in honor of Michael.
