Nina Ann Blatt

Nina A. Blatt, age 81, of Muir, went home to Heaven on Saturday, November 27, 2021. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia. Nina was a multi-talented artist who had an eye for art and was always on the quest to learn new techniques. She enjoyed animals, especially cats and dogs and she was an avid golfer. She made many friends over the years while driving bus for PW Schools and working as a secretary at MSU. Most of all, Nina treasured her family and loved watching her grandchildren grow. On January 16, 1960 Nina married the love of her life, Duane Blatt and they shared 44 years of marriage together until his passing in 2004.

Preceding Nina in death are her husband, Duane Blatt; grandson, Derek Figel; and brother-in-law, Rex Kennedy. She is survived by her children, Laurie (John) Sillman of South Riley, Katherine (Jack) VanBuren of Muir, Daniel (Christine) Blatt of Brighton, Cheryl (Phil) Allen of Muir and Deborah (Ed) Johnson of Sterling; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Belva Kennedy and Sharon (John) Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Lawrence at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westphalia Fire Department in memory of Nina. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
