Norman L. Mitchell

Norman L. Mitchell, born on October 21, 1935, in Lansing Michigan to Jackson and Anna Mitchell, peacefully transitioned to Heaven on May 1, 2025, at the age of 89. Norman married Joyce M. St. John of Portland, Michigan on December 12, 1958. They remained faithful to each other for 66 years. Most of Norman’s career was as a truck mechanic for the Michigan National Guard. In his retirement years, he enjoyed staying busy cutting wood and keeping the lawn and trails through their property mowed and well-groomed.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Kaiser (Jeff); brothers, Richard Mitchell and Ralph Mitchell; sister-in-law, Angie Mitchell; nephews, Eddie Mitchell (Brenda) and Paul Mitchell (Tina). Norman is survived by his loving wife, Joyce M. Mitchell (St. John), daughter Jamie Villwock (Don), son Terry Mitchell (Mary Jo), daughter Jana Morgan (Kevin), 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children, nieces Jeanie Myers (Tom) and Anna Sue Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held graveside at Danby Township Cemetery on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon following at Portland Mount Hope Church, 845 Ionia Road, Portland. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
