Pamela Olson-Moffitt Obituary

Pamela Sue (Mason) Olson-Moffitt, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 22, 1950 to William and Patrica (Hayden) Mason.

Pam graduated Everett High School in 1968 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University. For many years she worked in an orthopedic doctor’s office as a medical assistant and later office manager. She then went to work for the State of Michigan where she worked until retirement. At the State she held several positions including case worker, overseeing contracts, worked in refugee services, and manager. On February 29, 1996 she married John Moffitt II in Las Vegas surrounded by friends and family.

Pam was preceded in death by her husband, John; father, Bill; mother, Pat; and good friend Maggie Kurek.

Pam is survived by her daughter, Laura Olson; granddaughter, Sasha Lopez; brother, Rodney (Deborah) Mason; sister, Cheryl Mason; nephew, Eric Mason; niece, Traci Mason; nephew, Aaron (Aja) Mason; great-nephews, Cove and Levi; great-niece, Avalon; and brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Mechelle) Moffitt. She is also survived by her loving friend of over 40 years, Kim Henderson.

Pam was a gambler at heart and enjoyed trips to casinos. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games, gardening, shopping, cooking, and was an avid reader. By far her favorite pastime was spending time with loved ones, particularly her daughter and granddaughter. She was very generous and always wanting to help those in need. She would donate to Toy’s for Tots, become a holiday giving angel, and give money and items to those going through hard times. Not only did she do this when she had a little extra but also when she herself was struggling. She cared about people and wanted to help them anyway she could.

Over the years Pam had numerous health issues and the last few years were particularly difficult. At 4’9’’ she was small but she was fierce and never backed down from a fight. While her will to live stayed strong her body eventually could not go on. She said she wasn’t afraid of dying but she couldn’t bear to leave her daughter and granddaughter.

Pam was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, wife, daughter, aunt, and friend. She will carry on in our hearts and memories.

At Pam’s request there will be no funeral, service, or memorial. If desired friends may make contributions to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation at pkdcure.org.
