Ranee J. DeMott

Ranee Jean DeMott of Perrinton, MI, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 11, 2026 at the age of 73. She was born on January 5, 1953 to the late George and Joyce Petrie at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, MI.

Ranee is preceded in death by George, Joyce, and eldest sister, Shirley. She is survived by her husband, Phillip DeMott, their children: Aaron DeMott (Doreen and children), Steven DeMott (Megan and children), Seth DeMott (Courtney and child), Rachel Slaughter (Nicholas), as well as her sister, Marcia Lewis (Don), and brother, John Petrie (Kim). 

She married the love of her life, Phillip DeMott in 1973 and together they shared 52 wonderful and memorable years.

Ranee graduated from Lakewood high school in 1971 and furthered her education at Michigan State University majoring in early childhood education. Ranee absolutely loved to educate children and see them grow to become successful adults. 

Ranee was a beloved and active member of her church. Ranee was always there with a smile and a positive attitude for everyone. Ranee enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially when it came to cooking and baking. 

Celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church in Carson City, on May 30, starting at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon.
