Rebecca Jane (Sawyer) Sims

Rebecca Jane (Sawyer) Sims, of Portland, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the age of 77. She was born on April 19, 1945 in Ionia, the daughter of Robert and Cleda (Brown) Sawyer. Becky graduated from Portland High School - Class of 1963. She was active in 4H throughout her childhood and participated in various capacities for many years. Becky was a great cook and baker, her peanut butter fudge was out of this world. She enjoyed crafting and watching hummingbirds and cardinals from her porch swing. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing Euchre and Tonk. Becky will be greatly missed by all.

Preceding Becky in death are her husband, Richard Cook; parents, Robert and Cleda Sawyer; sisters, Carol Lakin and Connie Bennett; brothers, Donny and Bruce Sawyer; daughter-in-law, Ann Manshum; and nephew, Darren Babbitt. Surviving are her husband whom she shared 33 wonderful years with, Tod Sims; children, Richard (Amanda) Manshum, Ronald (Susan) Manshum, Robin (Patrick) Nurenberg, Randall Manshum, and Richard (Ashley) Cook; grandchildren, Reis, Emily, Bruce, Ronald II (Ashley), Ian (Holly), Abigail, Aiden, Kyle, Seth, Sawyer, Doak, Makenna, Bristol, Adalynn, and Owen; great-grandchildren, Jason, Brantley, Bentley, and Evan; siblings, Noel Babbitt, Tom (Deb) Sawyer, and Lonnie (Rosalee) Sawyer; brother-in-law, Roger Lakin; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service at the Portland VFW Post #4090, all are welcome.
