It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother Revella Martha Smith on May 16, 2023. With her unwavering love and selfless devotion, she touched the lives of everyone that had the privilege of knowing her. Born August 9, 1925 in Westphalia, Michigan, Revella lived a life dedicated to her family, church, and community. Her loving nature and caring spirit were evident in every aspect of her life. Revella, age 97, of Westphalia, was the daughter of Joseph and Laurina (Wirth) Hanses. Revella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed baking, playing cards and loved her family. Revella was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Simon “Simmy”; sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Barker and Liz Spitzley; brothers, Reynold (Rose) Hanses and David Hanses; granddaughter, Carli Smith and her great granddaughter, Samantha Smith; brother-in-law, Reece Hattis. Surviving are her children, Glenn (Marie) Smith, Sharon (Ken) Miller, Donna (Bruce) Devereaux, Jude (Fred) Kramer and Amy (John) Miller; 24 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Hattis; in-laws, Robert (Dolores) Spitzley and Kate Hanses; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N.
