Robert Lee Howland, of Portland, passed away on October 4, 2024 at the age of 83. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Bob married the love of his life, JoAnne “Cookie” Howland on June 23, 1962 and they raised two children together. He was a hardworking man who provided for his family to make sure they had things that he did not have and he also made time for family vacations a few times a year. Bob worked for many years at Danby Manufacturing (later known as Portland Products) as a press operator, moving on to driving truck, and finishing his career in shipping and receiving. He was also a lifelong farmer, a lifestyle he was truly passionate about. Bob enjoyed collecting antique tractors and tractor pulls, something he and his wife Cookie did together until her passing on July 17, 2024. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents; Julian and Florence (Mills) Howland; wife, JoAnne “Cookie” Howland; daughter-in-law, Theresa “Terri” Howland; and sister, Juanita “Winnie” Howland. Surviving are his son, Ron Howland; daughter, Bonnie (Jim Muntean) Lundgren; grandchildren, Christine, Wendy, and Paul; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and another on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
