In loving memory of Robert Clifton Sayers, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born on April 23, 1933, in Ionia to Clifton and Eldena (Utter) Sayers. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. In addition to his military service, Bob served with the local Fire Department. Bob was the esteemed owner and operator of Sayers Logging Co. His passion for the great outdoors extended beyond his professional life. In his later years, Bob took pride in contributing to the fundraising efforts of the memorial brick program for the Veteran’s Park Memorial Wall in Belding. One of Bob's cherished accomplishments was the development of the Sayers subdivision.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tom Sayers; and brothers, Floyd Sayers and Russell Sayers. Surviving are his wife of nearly 66 years, Phyllis Sayers; children, Jim Sayers, John (Penny) Sayers, and Diane (Wes Listerman) Sayers; several, special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Strickling; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Woodard Lake Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald Township Fire Department or the Belding Veteran’s Park Memorial Wall. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
