Robert Torp-Smith, of Portland Cptn, U.S. Navy, Retired Civil Engineer and Public Servant, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the age of 100. He was born on May 24, 1918 in Evanston, IL to parents of Danish decent. He was raised in Copenhagen, Denmark between 1921 and 1930 and returned to Evanston as Fascism rose in Europe. He served his country during WW II in the South Pacific. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (nee Pierce) (deceased) and father of Marley Torp-Smith (deceased) and Torben Torp-Smith. He is also survived by a grandson, Noah Torp-Smith and great granddaughters Karla and Alberta Torp-Smith. A graveside service will be announced for May 2019. There will be no funeral home visitation.
