Robert Mason Tyler, 80, of Lansing Michigan passed from life to eternal life on September 27, 2022. He was born April 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Mason Whiting Tyler and Dorothy Marie Tyler.
He was a University of Michigan graduate with a degree in forestry. He worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 32 years – enhancing, protecting and enriching Michigan’s great out of doors for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts alike. He loved collecting guns, shooting, hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sally Tyler and Alice Durkin, and nieces Heather Durkin and Dolores Krabec. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ella May Tyler; children, Letisha and Brian Bowman of Portland, and Forrest Tyler of Leslie; a grandson, Benjamin Bowman and his fiancée, Mackenzie Ketzel, of St. Joseph; sisters Susan and Jim Alsip of Indiantown, Florida and Ruth and Richard Cottrell of Jackson, Michigan and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 1:00pm at Grace United Methodist Church in Lansing, Michigan. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
