Roger Wicker, cherished husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend, passed away on April 5th, 2024, after a courageous health battle. For over 30 years, Roger dedicated himself to the City of East Lansing. But his greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind Lu Ann, his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 48 years, and two amazing children, Josh (Sarah) & Ashley (Ron). He was Papa to Scout and Jersey, Ashley’s daughters and Cody, Josh and Sarah’s son; who will forever cherish his presence in their lives. Roger was also preceded in death by his Father, Sherrill, Mother, Loretta and 9 siblings.
A lifelong Detroit Tiger, Detroit Lions and Michigan State Spartan fan, Roger's passion extended beyond the stands. He was a dedicated Haslett High School softball and baseball coach, where he inspired countless young athletes. His love for the game continued as he transitioned from coach to enthusiastic spectator, you could always find him on the 1st baseline fence. Roger cherished peaceful moments spent hunting with his family. He was a selfless individual, as evidenced by his gift of life through organ donation.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Roger's life on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, at 1:30 pm at St. Luke's Church (5589 Van Atta Rd, Haslett, MI 48840). In honor of Roger's love for sports, guests are encouraged to wear "Sport Team Casual" attire.
