Ronald Leo Smith, age 85, of Portland passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He was born on August 7, 1939 in Portland, the son of Isadore and Nora (Pung) Smith. Ron was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from T.R.W. in 1997 after 34 dedicated years of service. Ron enjoyed deer hunting, tinkering around the house, especially tending to his yard, and going to the casino with his family. He was a hardworking man who loved his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, holidays and family parties.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years, Barb Smith; sister, Kathleen Smith; brothers, Don, Dave, and Dan Smith; sisters-in-law, Jackie Smith, Kathleen Smith, and Mary Beard. Surviving are his sons, Mark (Amy) Smith, Scott Smith, and Steve (Adie) Smith; grandchildren, Tyler (Aubrey) Smith, Jerrid (Holly) Smith, and Mackenzie (Jared) Loomis; Hailey (Colin) Machada; Alysa Smith, Nicholas Smith, Shelby Chapco, and Channon Smith; brother, Tom Smith; sisters-in-law, Mary Smith and Faith (Roy) Kissane; and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
