Sara Lynn Barnes

Sara Lynn Barnes, of Portland, passed away far too soon on September 17, 2025, at the age of 48. She was born in Lansing on January 3, 1977, the daughter of Jimmy and Linda (Frazee) Barnes. Sara was a graduate of St. Patrick High School - Class of 1995 and she went on to build a successful career at the State of Michigan. In her free time, Sara enjoyed scrapbooking and making blankets for those she loved. Family was at the center of her life, she adored her children, grandchildren, and her faithful dog, Jacko. She also treasured her trips to her favorite place - Hilton Head Island, where the ocean brought her a sense of peace and pure joy. Sara always had a warm, cheerful smile and a friendly "hello" for anyone she met. She touched the lives of all who knew her. Sara will be forever missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.

Sara is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernie and Kate Frazee; grandfather, Jack Barnes; and uncles, Leo and Gerald Frazee. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Hunter (fiancé, Fiore Manso-Coats) Hoppes and Madelynn (Kole Parks) Hoppes; grandchildren, Hudson Parks and Ember Dugan; parents, Jimmy and Linda Barnes; brother, Jeffery (Journey Schultz) Barnes; grandmother, Barbara Gearhart; uncle and aunt, John and Linda Boreck; partner, Johnny Moore; former husband and father of her children, Tim Hoppes; and many special nieces and nephews, and close friends.

A Funeral Service honoring Sara will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Portland Cemetery and a luncheon will follow at the Portland VFW Post #4090.
