Sarah Elizabeth (Walker) Strzalka

Sarah Elizabeth Strzalka, age 86, of Eagle, formerly of Stockbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. She was born on November 13, 1933 in Dyer County, Tennessee, the daughter of Cannon and Eva (Woods) Walker. In 1961, Sarah married the love of her life, Frank Strzalka, Jr. and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together. They settled in Riverview where they raised their son, Larry and later moved to Stockbridge in their retirement. Sarah was dedicated and hard-working, she was also a strong leader. Sarah was employed for 33 years at Michigan Basic Property Insurance Association and then later at the Chelsea Retirement Center for over 10 years. In her free-time, Sarah also enjoyed decorating and gardening.

Preceding Sarah in death are her parents; husband, Frank Strzalka, Jr.; three brothers, Jack (Edith) Walker, Charles Walker, and William Walker; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Sarah is survived by her son, Larry (Coreen) Strzalka; two grandchildren, Cannon (Bonnie) Strzalka and Carolyn (fiancé, Luke Lofgren) Strzalka; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland, Michigan. Rite of Committal will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday and 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to St. Patrick Parish in memory of Sarah. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
