Scott Grammer Obituary

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, we lost an amazing man to an unpredictable heart attack. He is survived by his “Yellow Hoarde” comprised of Sunnee (Princess Poo), Fletcher (Wookie), Motion (Mushy), Daisee (Daisee-Doo or Dizzy), and Angus (Meathead). His quality of life was embedded in those goldens and, boy, did they have it all. They needed to kayak so he bought them one. They needed a Commander for long rides so they could land at campgrounds where they could snuggle in the world’s smallest camper and the dogs could free range and “get the wiggles out”. They REALLY needed a jeep so their fur could fly into the wind and their noses could smell the best smells so, of course, he bought them one. There was nothing that brought him greater joy than people “enjoying my dogs”.

Then came his latest selection of toys which were the two motorcycles or, as I called them, “the Death Machines”. He would drive around town early in the morning or to meet for lunch near his house. Never doubt that he had every intention of purchasing a sidecar for, guess what, one cool dog at a time that would need to go cruisin’. He was set to go on the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride this month for which he purchased a special helmet and a fancy suit.

My friend, you held world at a safe distance, but there were those that you let into your weird little life. You loved your mother so much and her wisdom would remind you that the world was full of takers with few givers. She knew you were a giver and, when you dared to open parts of yourself, you found other givers to care for you. You would never believe it in life, but I hope you can see how much you are loved and by so many people. Your humor, your kindness, your way with words, your desire to take care of people – you impacted so many lives by simply being you.
The world is different now, Scott, but I hope you find the peace that eluded you in life. Rest now, my friend, you can finally sleep.

Sunnee, Fletcher, and Daisee are in the loving care of Tracey Jewett. Motion and Angus are in the loving care of Laura Zuger. They will continue to live their best lives with dog jumping, swimming, therapy dog time, and the best snuggles from the two women Scott trusted most with their forever care.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at Potter Park Zoo at the Tiger’s Den on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The event space can be used for an outdoor or indoor event depending on the weather. Please bring your socialized dogs for “the fuzzing”. The event will take place between 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM; between 1:45 and 2:30 there will be time set aside for those that love him to tell their stories. The event will be catered by Saddleback BBQ of Okemos.

If you wish to contribute to the lives of the “Yellow Hoarde”, please donate gift cards from Chewy or any pet store of your choice. Monetary donations will be accepted at the celebration of Scott’s life for Tracey and Laura.
