The world lost a vibrant, beautiful, graceful soul to cancer on August 4, 2021. During her 71 years, Sherry Fedewa lived more and inspired more than most could ever hope to.
Sherry grew up in DeWitt, the oldest of six siblings whom she loved and cared for throughout her life. At a teen dance in 1968, she fell in love with Dale, whom she married the following year. In addition to a loving husband, this union gave her the gift of a beautiful extended family. Sherry became a devoted daughter-in-law and loved Dale’s siblings like her own.
Sherry and Dale raised their family in Westphalia. Over the years, she was a friend and confidant to her four children. She was always available to listen and provide her quiet guidance.
Sherry was a devoted wife to Dale. Together, they created a family who loved to spend time together. In the summer, they enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren at their cottage in Lake City, Michigan. Days were spent on the dock watching her grandchildren play. In the evening, Sherry loved to have a glass of wine, listen to music, and watch the sunset. Her greatest joy was found in the presence of her family, and she treasured those moments.
In 1987, she found an additional passion when she began coaching the Pewamo-Westphalia cheer team. In the years that followed, she built her legacy by creating a program that was second to none. In a statement from the Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools, they noted, “While Sherry left a legacy in competitive cheer in the state of Michigan with her team championships, her greater legacy will be the values she instilled in the girls and women of the community, which has extended generations.”
Sherry was never one to sit still. Whether she was tidying her beautiful home, traveling to the ocean, or dancing around the kitchen, she was always on the move. She enjoyed lunches and time spent with her life-long friends. Sherry was an avid Michigan State fan and loved attending games. Fitness was central to her life; from teaching aerobics to competing in 5Ks, she was always finding ways to stay active.
Sherry had a knack for creating beauty. She entertained with style, designing lovely and welcoming spaces for family and friends. Constantly fashionable, she loved shopping for the latest looks. People sought her advice when decorating their homes or choosing the perfect outfit for an occasion. She was the embodiment of style and class.
There was never a time that Sherry’s loved ones entered her home and found it anything less than perfect, beautiful, and welcoming. Those who loved her are devastated that she has gone before them. But they know that she is enjoying heaven’s perfect beauty and preparing to welcome them when they are all united again.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dale Fedewa; her children: Toree (Jason) Randall, Stacie (Jeff) Angel, Andy (Kim) Fedewa, and Sara (Tim) Cibor; her grandchildren: Drew, Nate Nick, Max, Will, Vivian, Catherine, and Simon; her siblings: Randy (Kim) Kaminski, Robin Kaminski, Dave (David) Kaminski, and Jeri Kaminski. In heaven she will be reunited with her parents, John and Joy Kaminski and brother, Roger Kaminski.
