Shirley Ann (Jestila) Dorsky

Shirley Ann (Jestila) Dorsky, age 87 of Portland, passed away on Saturday March 29, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 27, 1937 in Baraga, Michigan the daughter of Waino and Rosemary (Vizina) Jestila. Shirley was a member of St. Patrick Church, and a life member of the V.F.W. Post# 4090 Ladies Auxiliary in Portland. She attended Baraga Public Schools through the 11th grade and graduated from Portland Adult Education. Shirley worked for Adult Education for 11 years, retiring in 1995. She loved attending her grandchildren’s events, family gatherings, and her monthly “birthday group” with the ladies. On June 4, 1955 she married John Dorsky at St. Ann’s Church in Baraga. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Dorsky; daughter, Diane Dorsky; granddaughter, Brianne Seigo Rochester and a brother, Ronald Jestila. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, John; children, Larry Dorsky, Mark Dorsky, Connie (Joe) Butler, Mary (Ron) Simmons, Colleen (Mike) Seigo, Daryl (Timi) Dorsky, Lynda (Scott) Clark, and Stacy (Pat) Russman; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and 1 great-great grandchild.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland.
