Stephen L. Lampman

Stephen Lester Lampman, of Ionia, passed away February 7, 2020 at SKLD of Ionia at the age of 69.

Steve was born June 16, 1950, in Ionia, the son of Burdette and Alice (Hoy) Lampman.

Steve had a kind word and a joke for anyone he met. Due to an injury at birth, he lacked the ability to drive, but you could see him walking around town. His favorite time of the year was during the Ionia Free Fair, where he could be seen everyday enjoying the sights and food.

During Steve's stay at SKLD, he would call all of his family and friends on Saturday mornings just to say, "hello" and to see how they were doing. Eventually his illness prevented him from doing this. Steve was able to earn his GED and was student of the year in 1988, an accomplishment he was very proud of.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Ruth Harwood Lampman. He is survived by his brother, Lee (Kortne) Lampman of Ionia; nephew, Wil (Katrina) Lampman of Greenville; niece, Kara Egizi of Arvada, CO; great-nephew and niece, Griffen and Samantha Lampman of Greenville; and he is also survived by Ruth’s family.

Steve's family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the staff of SKLD of Ionia and to the hospice nurses for their compassion and care they gave to Steve, they will always be grateful.

The Memorial Service will be held in the Spring on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church, 105 E. Main Street, Ionia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. A private family graveside will follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
