Thomas English Obituary

Thomas Hugh English, son of Hugh and Ethel (Seward) English, was born in St. Ignace, Michigan on December 15, 1948 and passed away from natural causes on January 25, 2021 in Portland, Michigan. Tom graduated from Portland High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and had one tour. Tom was awarded the Bronze Star Medal on October 31, 1970. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal on June 20, 1970. Tom was an entrepreneur and owned two businesses but retired as a Merchant Marine on the Pacific Ocean and the Great Lakes. He was an avid golfer, played softball and enjoyed time with family and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dan English. Tom is survived by his siblings, Mike, Jim, Julie and Lisa, his three children, Matthew Fraser English (Lisa), David Randall English and William Thomas English (Joan) and six grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance being held at 5:30 p.m. The Time of Remembrance will be livestreamed on the Lehman Funeral Homes - Portland Facebook page for those unable to attend. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com
