Thomas Pung Obituary

Thomas Anthony Pung, of Portland, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020. He was born on October 3, 1931 in Portland, the son of Leon, Sr. and Pauline (Gross) Pung. Tom was a member of St. Patrick Church and the K of C Council #2168.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Corporal during the Korean War. He worked at Fisher Body for 39 years and retired in 1987. Life did not stop there for Tom, he enjoyed traveling, going for rides, working in his garden, hunting, fishing with his brothers in the U. P., playing cards, golfing, and most of all spending time with his family. He was Rose’s handyman for her antiquing hobby. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Henry and Rose Fedewa; brothers, Donald Pung, Leon Pung, Jr., and John Pung; brothers-in-law, Anthony Hradecky and Gerald (Kate) Fedewa; and sister-in-law, Germaine (Fred) May. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, RoseMary (Fedewa) Pung; children, Steve (Kim) Pung, Diane (Brad) Sandborn, Mark (Sharon) Pung, and Lisa (Chris) Fedewa; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Bernie) Pung, Ann (Jerry) Kloeckner, Joan Hradecky, Richard (Ann) Pung and Ken (Carrie) Pung; sister-in-laws, Barb (Dick) Trierweiler, Dorothy Pung and Kathy Pung; Fedewa in-laws, Joe (Alice) Fedewa and Kathleen Bengel; and several nieces and nephews.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Michael Alber at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post #4090. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Portland Assisted Living and Memory Center, the Grace Hospice team, Fr. Mike Alber, Jim and Linda (niece) Spring for bringing them weekly Eucharist and a special thank you to Michelle VanSlambrouk, who spent many days with them prior to going into assisted living.
