Thomas William Wright, 76, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 surrounded by those who loved him. He was born November 15, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He grew up and spent most of his adult life in the state he cherished. Tom proudly served his country as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy, completing a tour aboard the USS John Hancock during the Vietnam War. His time at sea shaped his discipline, his worldview and his lifelong commitment to standing up for others. After his military service, he built a long career as a salesman, known for his quick wit, sharp instincts, and ability to connect with just about anyone.
A passionate follower of Detroit sports and a loyal supporter of Michigan State University, Tom rarely missed a game and never hesitated to share his opinions. He was a champion for the under-represented and believed fiercely in fairness and justice. He was deeply passionate, carried a sharp sense of humor, and was genuinely loved by all who knew him. Tom enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, always eager for the next adventure.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; children Sean (Sara) Wright, Steven Wright, Sarah (Mark) Younts and step-daughter Rebecca (Mark) Feldpausch; grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Gabert, Hailie Tebo, Kaitlyn Wright, Alexandria Tebo, Brooklyn Fisher, Allison Wright, Carson Wright, Brennan, Caidan and Owen Feldpausch and great grandchildren, Elliana Gabert and Paxton Fisher. He is also survived by sisters Karen, Deborah and Denise and brothers Michael and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys and father Fred and sisters Amy and Michelle. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at VFW Post 4113, located at 2497 Old U.S. 27, St. Johns, Michigan.
