Timothy Harold Belen, of Westphalia, passed away on January 20, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born in Westphalia, Michigan on January 11, 1942, the son of Norbert and Marian (Wieber) Belen. He retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. Tim was a life-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1961. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the Michigan National Guard. Tim was a loving, caring, selfless husband, father, and grandfather. He had a contagious laugh, humorous personality, and always had a smile on his face, especially around family and friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors doing yard work and golfing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family; especially taking road trips and traveling to Florida with his wife.
Preceding Tim in death are his parents; brother, Thomas Belen; brothers-in-law, Edward (Skip) Thelen, Richard (Dick) Whitney, Don Whitney, Tom Edlin, Ted Edlin; sisters-in-law, Anita Belen, Vera Belen, Marylou Whitney, Joyce Edlin, and Carol Edlin.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Judith Belen; daughters, Carri (Dennis) Fox, Carisa (Kirk) Beard; grandchildren, Shanna (Joshua) Thelen, Holly (Scott) Simon, Benjamin (Taylor) Fox, Matthew Fox, Grace Fox, Kate Fox, Alexis Visser, Jordan Visser, Tori Beard, Preston (Lauren) Beard; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Thelen; sisters-in-law, Peg Whitney and Sally Edlin; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 2 -8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday January 25, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Following the Rite of Committal there will be a luncheon held at the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
