Versil Dallas Swift, 97, of Ionia, entered Heaven peacefully at home May 11, 2021 with his daughters by his side. He was born June 23, 1923 to Georgia Cummings and Dallas Swift.
He worked at Federal Mogul in Grand Rapids, co-owner of Swift Brothers in Stanton, manager of Production Credit Association in Lakeview and retired as Vice President of the Farm Credit Division at Ionia County National Bank.
He served his country during WWII as a Sergeant in the Army as a Forward Observer. After returning from the war, he married his High School sweetheart, Beatrice (Ellsworth) Swift. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife; and his brothers, Maurice Swift and Forrest Swift. Surviving are his children, Marlene (Bob) Henry, Mike Swift, and Melonie (Jim) Kimble. They were blessed with 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Versil was a member of Temple Baptist Church. In October 1940, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He served God faithfully as a leader in the Boys Brigade, Sunday School teacher, Youth Director and Deacon.
Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Brian Rahn on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Temple Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia.
