Walter L. Cross

Walter L. Cross, a longtime resident of Portland, Michigan passed away at the age of 72 on Monday November 9, 2020.

Walter is survived by his sister, Judy Clay of California,  brother, Warren "Ralph" and Susan Cross of Grand Rapids, and brother, Raymond "Ray" and Deb Cross of Stanton, Michigan.  Walter also had many nieces and nephews.   Also surviving Walter are long time special friends, Betsey Taack and Rick VanAntwerp.

Walter was born on July 22, 1948 to Warner C. and Frances P. Cross in Grand Rapids.  He graduated from Creston High School in 1965, before enlisting in the United States Navy.  Walter was the proud owner/operator of Walts On Inn in Portland, Michigan for 20+ years.

Walter enjoyed many things in life including playing cards, bowling, shuffleboard, fishing, and recently driving his convertible. Walter will be missed as he had a positive impact on so many people’s lives.

Cremation has taken place and there are no current plans for a memorial service.  Additional information will be provided if or when that changes.   Walter was a regular supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  If you wish to provide a donation we know Walter would support that fine organization.
