Dimondale native William “Bill” F. Smith died on June 22, 2025, at age 81. Bill enjoyed fly-fishing and golfing. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1966 and retired from Michigan Bell in 1994 after 28 years, forming many lasting friendships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dona Smith of Dimondale.
Bill will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Ann; his siblings, Kenneth (Terry) Smith, Amy Smith, and Alice Swift; his three daughters, Robin O’Brien, Amy (Joseph) Daigneault, and Wendi VeCasey; and his eight beloved grandchildren: Hunter (Eric) Torkelson, Alyx (Aaron) Hause, Emily (Brandon Kuhn) Daigneault, Grace Daigneault, Nathan Daigneault, Brady Smith, Katelyn Graham, and Jami (Sean) Fobbe. Additionally, he leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Marley, Trevor, Franklin, and Emmett, as well as many nieces and nephews. A special mention to our partners in crime, Michael and Brenda McKenna.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on August 2, 2025, at Lions Park, 304 E. Jefferson St., Dimondale, Michigan. Contributions in memory of Bill can be made to the Capital Area Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
