William "Bill" Earle Leonard, age 82 of Portland, passed away on April 7, 2025, in Ionia, Michigan surrounded by his two sons. Bill was born on August 1, 1942.
Bill graduated from Mason High School and furthered his education at Michigan State University. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. Following his service, Bill established a successful career as a master electrician, working 22 years at TRW before establishing his own electric business.
Beyond his professional life, Bill attended the United Methodist Church of Portland. His love for puzzles and livestock, especially horses and sheep, filled his leisure time.
Bill was a family man through and through. He is survived by his sons, Scott (Deb) Leonard and Bill (Tracy) Leonard; grandchildren Brad (Kellie) Leonard, Clayton Leonard, Mallory (Paul) Leonard, Riley Leonard, and Carlee Leonard; great-grandchildren Brady, Macie, Payton, Emma, and Tanner; sister-in-law Joan Trumble; and brother-in-law Doug (Judy) Rogers. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Rogers) Leonard; parents, Lloyd and Marion Leonard; sister, Dotty Leonard; in-laws Donald & Kathleen Rogers; and brother-in-law Larry (Cheryl) Rogers.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 East Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at East Sebewa Cemetery. A luncheon will take place following the services at the VFW Post #4090, 1324 E. Bridge St., Portland.
