William "Bill" E. Leonard II

William "Bill" Earle Leonard II, age 55, of Portland, passed away on April 7, 2026. He was born on October 5, 1970, to William and Mary (Rogers) Leonard of Portland.

Bill’s family was the light of his life. He married Tracy (Gilbert) Leonard on June 9, 2001, and later welcomed two girls in 2002 and 2004. Although outnumbered by girls, he truly enjoyed being a husband and girl dad, and always managed to have a hair-tie on hand whenever needed. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Tracy, and two daughters, Riley (Austin White) Leonard and Carlee (Carson Martin) Leonard. Bill enjoyed time together with his family, whether travelling, camping, or just spending time together at home.

He had many favorite pastimes, the highest ranking being running his beagles, Max and Boomer. He enjoyed the outdoors on his ranger while listening to them bark hot on the trail of a rabbit. If you knew Bill, he was probably sure to show you a video of his beagles running through the woods. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed whitetail deer hunting, ice fishing, and walleye fishing with great friends. Bill had a special passion and eye for livestock, specifically horses and sheep, especially once his girls became of 4-H age. Bill enjoyed having lambs in the barn and raised a flock of sheep for many years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary (Rogers) Leonard; his grandparents, Donald and Kathleen Rogers and Lloyd and Marion Leonard; and his aunt and uncle, Larry and Cheryl Rogers.

Bill is also survived by his brother, Scott (Deb) Leonard; aunts and uncles, Joan Trumble and Doug (Judy) Rogers; nieces and nephews, Brad (Kellie) Leonard, Clayton Leonard, Mallory Leonard, and many others; special buddy, Brady Leonard; goddaughter, Macie Leonard; in-laws, Terry and Phyllis Gilbert, Kristy Gilbert, and Beth (Scott) Webert; special friend, Tom Snyder; as well as many cousins and great friends. 

The Funeral Service honoring Bill will be officiated by Rev. Bob Beckett at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Interment will follow at East Sebewa Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
